1. Who we are, and what you are agreeing to

TLDSpy is operated by Hive Horizon, 61 rue de Lyon, 75012 Paris, France (SIREN 979 357 324) — "we", "us", "our". These terms apply to everything we offer at tldspy.com and through the TLDSpy API (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use it.

How we handle personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

2. What the Service provides

TLDSpy collects and compares domain pricing across registrars, and exposes related domain data. It is made of the following parts.

Domain search

Search any domain to see whether it appears registered, what public WHOIS, RDAP and DNS records say about it, and what it costs across the registrars we track. Availability and registration status come from public sources and are indicative: some registries publish nothing, in which case we say so rather than guess. Always confirm with the registrar before relying on a result.

Signed-in users get a personal search history, which you can delete entry by entry, and a private search mode that records nothing. Anonymous users get a limited number of searches per day.

Domain Cost Audit

A free tool that estimates the yearly renewal cost of a list of domains, flags those expiring soon and highlights registrars charging above market rate. See section 11 for how that data is handled.

Pricing pages, comparisons and guides

TLD and registrar pages, registrar comparisons, the Domain Price Index and editorial guides. These are published for information. They are not financial, legal or purchasing advice.

The API

Programmatic access to the same pricing and domain data, for developers, domain investors, resellers and analysts. Access requires an account and an API key.

3. Accounts and API keys

• You may browse the site, run an audit and make a limited number of searches without an account. An account is required for search history, higher limits and the API.
• We sign you in with a link sent to your email address, so there is no password to lose. Keep access to that mailbox secure.
• Your API key identifies you. Keep it confidential, and treat everything done with it as done by you. If you believe it has leaked, regenerate it from your account page and tell us.
• Give us accurate details when you register, and keep them current.
• You must be at least 16, or old enough to enter a contract where you live.

4. Acceptable use

You may use the Service to:

• Compare registrar prices and track how they change.
• Research domains for yourself, your business or your clients.
• Build tools and applications on top of the API.
• Analyse the domain industry.

You may not:

• Break the law, or infringe anyone's rights.
• Circumvent rate limits, quotas or authentication — including by creating multiple accounts to get more free searches, or sharing an API key beyond your own use.
• Scrape or bulk-extract the site outside the API, or attempt to rebuild our pricing dataset.
• Resell, redistribute or publicly republish raw TLDSpy data as a dataset, or build a product whose main value is our data rebranded. Using the data inside your own application or analysis is fine.
• Interfere with the Service, probe it for vulnerabilities without our written permission, or use it to attack anyone.
• Use the Service to send unsolicited messages, or to support domain-related abuse such as cybersquatting on someone's trademark.

If you find a security issue, tell us at [email protected] before disclosing it. We will not pursue good-faith research that respects this.

5. Plans, credits and limits

• Each plan carries a monthly allowance of API calls and searches, plus per-minute rate limits. Your current usage is shown on your account page.
• Allowances reset monthly and do not roll over. Running out means requests are refused until the next period or until you upgrade.
• Free plans may be limited to a subset of TLDs, and may change or end. Sustained use far beyond a plan's intent may be throttled even within its stated limits.

6. Paid plans, billing and cancellation

• Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe, monthly or yearly as chosen. Prices are shown on the pricing page and exclude any tax that may apply.
• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel any time from your account: you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, and are not charged again.
• Consumers in the EU have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract. Because access starts immediately, that right ends once the service has been fully performed.
• Outside that right, payments are non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise or where we agree to a refund.
• We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice before your next renewal. If you do not accept the new price, cancel before it takes effect.
• Unpaid or failed payments may lead to suspension after we have tried to reach you.

7. Accuracy of the data

• Prices and domain records come from registrars, registries and public sources. We work to keep them current, but we cannot guarantee they are complete, accurate or up to date at the moment you read them. Registrars change prices without telling us.
• Prices are shown in USD and include the ICANN fee where it applies. Some registrars price by region; we show the default, usually US/global.
• Promotional prices and multi-year deals depend on the registrar's own conditions and availability. Where a cheaper route exists only under a condition, we show that condition alongside it.
• Price history is available from February 2025 onwards.
• Always confirm the final price and the domain's availability with the registrar before buying. Decisions you take on the basis of our data are yours.
• Listing a registrar is not an endorsement, and we have no control over what they do.

8. Affiliate links

Some registrar links are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you register a domain after following one. This never changes the prices we show or the order in which registrars are ranked — the ranking follows the data. Once you leave for a registrar, their terms apply, and any contract is with them, not us.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available and accurate, but we provide it on a best-effort basis and offer no uptime guarantee. We may add, change or withdraw features, and may suspend the Service for maintenance. For changes that materially reduce what a paid plan offers, we will give reasonable notice.

10. Your content and our content

The Service, its interface, its editorial content and the compiled pricing dataset belong to Hive Horizon and are protected by intellectual property law. These terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable right to use the Service, and nothing more.

What you submit — the domains you search or audit — remains yours. You grant us only the permission needed to process it and answer your request. Registrar names and logos belong to their owners and are used for identification.

11. Domain Audit — data handling

The free Domain Cost Audit (tldspy.com/audit) is built to be privacy-respecting. When you submit a list of domains:

• Nothing is stored. Your list reaches our server, is used immediately to query public WHOIS data and our pricing index, and is then discarded. We do not write it to our database.
• No account is required, and the audit is not attached to one even if you happen to be signed in.
• Nothing is shared. Your domains are never sold, never passed to registrars for marketing, and never used to contact you.
• Nothing is recorded on screen. The text you paste and the results are masked from our session-replay analytics, so no one here can read them back.
• Requests to public WHOIS, RDAP and DNS sources necessarily contain the domain being looked up. That is how those systems work, and they receive nothing about you.
• Aggregate counts, such as how many audits were run, may be kept. These contain no domain names.

12. Search — what is kept

• Signed in, your searches are saved to your own history so you can return to them. Delete any entry at any time, or switch on private search mode to record nothing.
• Signed out, searches are not attached to any identity; we count them only to enforce the daily limit.
• Searched domains are masked from our session-replay analytics, and that analytics is switched off entirely on the search page.

13. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the data will be accurate or complete. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Hive Horizon is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue, data or opportunity, nor for any loss arising from a domain you did or did not register, a price that turned out to be different, or a domain that expired. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or €100 if you paid nothing.

We do not exclude liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

15. Indemnity

If your use of the Service, your breach of these terms or your infringement of someone's rights causes a claim against us, you agree to cover the resulting reasonable costs and damages.

16. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, threatens the Service or others, or fails to pay — normally after warning you, and immediately where the breach is serious. If we close your account without cause, we refund the unused part of any prepaid period.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top always shows the current version. For changes that materially affect your rights we will give reasonable notice, and continuing to use the Service after they take effect means you accept them.

18. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. Disputes fall to the courts of Paris, France. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
